It's great! Imagine Wipeout, but the contestants are all staying in Japan. They get paired up into teams and go through wierd challanges. The winning team in a challange gets like, V.I.P. tours of Japan, stuff like that. The losing team gets a punishment. Like making a zen rock garden, or making chopsticks, and has to choose 2 members to play in an elimination game. The person who loses that game gets sent back to America. Everyone gets eliminated one by one untill only 3 are left. Then, the teams are broken up, and everyone goes head to head and the winner gets a quarter of a million dollars. Anyhow, they had the season finnale about a month ago. I bet you could find some episodes on ABC.com though.

Jamie Hyneman.
"Hyneman. James Hyneman".
That mustache of his, and that beret. Those two things make whatever lines he says more funny. I've taken "Reinforce the heck out of it" to heart in all of my projects. Which means that they all have duct tape all over them. Which means that my room is covered with duct tape.

Pretty good wipeout. Had some memorable big ball moments. Still, I think this is the best thing from any wipeout:

"Snakes, look out for snakes, snakes. Water snakes oh, theres water snakes. Look out theres flying snakes, flying snakes..."

I just got back from watching MythBusters. It was the first one I've seen in a while. Man, you should have seen this bumper explode off this car that they had, and it just obliterated this mannequin from fifty feet. Even though it was with gunpowder and not in a car fire. And the Build Team shot arrows into a big ol' foam board from a moving jeep.

I haven't heard of many of those in the first post, but I gather Wipeout is a bit like Total Wipeout we have on these shores. I always enjoy the qualifier course, but sometimes I'll just watch that and switch over so my brother can watch his reality freak shows on the commercial networks, the next three rounds aren't nearly as funny.

Over here we have a daytime quiz show called Pointless where the contestants had to score as few points as possible by guessing the least popular answers to surveys. I only really started watching it because I was in the studio audience for one episode, but I'm always surprised by some of the answers that the contestants give.

Outside of daytime quizzes, I tend to watch comedy panel games like Mock the Week or QI. If there was one truly serious TV show that I would come home wheezing to watch, it would be post-apocalyptic thriller series Survivors. You just can't not want to see what happened next when one of the main characters is shot and the other one is taken away by evil researchers whitin two minutes of each other.

It's like America's Got Talent/Britain Got Talent in the since that there is more than one version.

In this case however, the British version was conceived first, but, the American version was made first. (Your version is filmed in Argentina, I did not know that.)

Yep. However, the best thing EVER from wipeout:

"Where's the poll?"

Henson: What poll? I don't see any poll!

( a bunch of arrows are drawn pointing at the poll.)

"OH! I thought the poll was yellow!

Anderson: "That polls not yellow."

I remember I used to watch a Wipeout like show. It was on at like, 12-1:00 and was made in japan. However, it was dubbed with ridiculous comedians who talked about weird irrelevant things.
the challenges all made no sense; one of them was that every contestant, (there were 40 or so) would be wrapped up to there neck in a plastic bag, and they had to bite donuts, which were hanging from strings, and see who could eat the most within three minutes. There were also interludes where the announcers, who were dressed in blue and red kimonos, would like dance around and hit each other with stuffed squirrels. The dubs were pretty funny, and the teams, which were randomly chosen after the first free for all challenge, were all broken up by professions, but the professions were all insane, like "Telemarketers who call while you are on the toilet" or "People who dig famous celebrities graves." Then the announcers would comment on how each participant did their job and their greatest achievement in their line of work. I believe the show was called MXC.

It sounds more like "Most Extreme Elimination Challange." It's okay... but wipeout... Tee-Bee Show talk! Icon_surprised
